Went down around her house one day but, she wasn’t there.
Her old man, well, he lets me in and wanders off to find his chair.

So I ventured in, even though I’m really not sure if he was inviting me in.
Stumbled at the door, I went in to explore.
Found him sitting facing the fireplace, sitting in a comfy chair.
And there beside him was another chair
So I sat in that chair
And on the arm of the chair I see a long hair.

There we were together – I never felt so alone
So I ventured to ask him, I said, “Excuse me sir, when do you think she’ll be home?”
He starts talking on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on …
He never answered my question, he was telling me he loved this chair?!

Daddy’s Li’l girl, she’s so fine

Started in a whisper, ended up in a bit of a shout – I said,
“I really think, I really think I’ve got something to say
However I’d like to ask you a question, if that’s OK?
I really like your daughter. I think you’ve raised her real well.
You know, known her for some time now, you know I could always tell
That she’s Daddy’s little girl, she’s so fine
And Daddy’s little girl, I want you to make her mine.
And Daddy’s little girl, though she’s sweet
She’s Daddy’s little girl, she can stand up on her own two feet!”

He gets out of chair real slow and he gives me this evil look.
Reached up above the fire place and brought his gun down from it’s hook.
I was half way down the hallway when I heard this hollow click…
Froze me for a second then I was out the door pretty damned quick.

I can still hear him laughing from miles away
Echoed like the crack from his gun – and I heard him say,
“Looks like you’re off the hook, son, good thing you know when to run
Looks like you’re off the hook, son.”
